At Kingsfield Primary School, our aim is for children to leave us equipped with the knowledge, understanding, and emotional resilience to play an active, positive, and successful role in today’s diverse society. We want our pupils to have high aspirations, a strong belief in themselves, and to understand that anything is possible if they put their mind to it. In a constantly changing world, it is essential that they are aware, at an age-appropriate level, of the various factors that will shape their future and that they develop the skills to navigate these changes, ensuring good mental health and well-being.

To support this, we follow the Jigsaw PSHE and RSE programme, a carefully structured and progressive scheme that brings together Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education, emotional literacy, social skills, and mindfulness. Jigsaw provides a clear learning sequence from Early Years to Year 6, ensuring that knowledge and skills build steadily and meaningfully over time. Its mindful approach helps children develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and reflective thinking — all of which are essential for positive mental health and well-being.

Our PSHE curriculum, strengthened by Jigsaw’s six half-termly “Puzzles,” supports children in developing the knowledge and skills they need to engage with the wider curriculum and to become confident global citizens, both now and in their future roles. It nurtures their moral, cultural, mental, and physical development, preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences that life will bring.

Our Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), delivered through the Jigsaw programme, provides pupils with the tools to stay safe, understand personal boundaries, and build healthy, respectful relationships. The programme’s clear progression and age-appropriate resources ensure that children learn about relationships and growing up in a safe, supportive, and consistent way, empowering them to make informed and positive choices throughout their lives.
