Pupil Premium and PE Premium

At Kingsfield Primary School, we have high aspirations for all learners. We are committed to providing equality of opportunity so every pupil thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. Our aim is for all disadvantaged pupils to leave our school as confident, resilient, and successful learners who have found something they enjoy and excel at.

We want our Pupil Premium funding to make a real difference for our children and families. We use it carefully to help every child feel supported, confident, and ready to learn. By regularly reviewing how this funding is spent, we make sure it helps improve attendance, build new skills, broaden experiences, raise aspirations, and boost achievement so that all children can reach their full potential.

Our current prediction for Pupil Premium Funding for 2025-2026 is £153,015.00

Key Barriers to Learning

  • Attendance – Pupil Premium (PP) pupils’ attendance is below that of non-PP pupils.

  • Social and Emotional Needs – Higher levels of emotional regulation difficulties and complex social needs.

  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) – A significant number of PP pupils have safeguarding concerns impacting readiness to learn.

  • Attainment Gaps – Lower attainment in reading, writing, and maths at KS1 and KS2 compared with peers.

  • Limited Cultural Capital – Fewer opportunities to engage in enrichment, extra-curricular activities, and cultural experiences.

 How We Address Barriers

1. Improving Attendance

  • Dedicated Attendance Team monitor and support attendance.

  • Strong home–school links and parental engagement initiatives.

2. Supporting Social & Emotional Development

  • Thrive Approach embedded across the school; 6 trained practitioners deliver targeted and whole-school interventions.

  • Hive Appropriate Provsion offers structured, nurturing support for pupils with additional needs (especially SEND/Autism).

  • Focus on emotional literacy and self-regulation skills.

3. Raising Attainment

  • High-quality teaching through Talk for Writing, Maths Mastery, and Phonics/Fluency approaches.

  • Targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions led by skilled teaching assistants.

  • Specialist support from ALT Reading and Maths Leads.

  • Staff CPD to strengthen pedagogy and subject knowledge.

4. Enhancing Cultural Capital and Wider Opportunities

  • All PP pupils offered at least one free enrichment club.

  • Visits, trips, and residential experiences fully or partly funded.

  • Opportunities in arts, music, sport, and outdoor learning to build confidence and aspiration.

Expected Outcomes

  • The attainment gap in reading, writing, and maths narrows.

  • All pupils experience a rich curriculum and find an area of personal success.
